Before you become a member, you might want to know about our congregation

Peace Covenant’s membership and worship attendance has been stable for the past decade.

That consistent stability reflects the commitment of core members to remain active, of our seasonal attendees to attend regularly and participate in the life of our church while they are here; and the loyalty of local residents who attend and participate consistently.

When we lose core members it is exclusively to death or the desire to relocate to other communities in search of closer ties to family and health care services that are not as readily available on the island as on the mainland.

The stability reflects our ability to welcome new members consistently, whether they come from off-island as seasonal participants or as locals interested in participating in our congregation.

• In 2017, Session officially reviewed the membership roll and deactivated or removed members who had died, moved from the area, transferred their memberships or were no longer active in the congregation. Although this appears to be a significant decline in membership, please note that attendance among core members has remained steady.
• Attendance remains strong even as we worked through the Covid years of 2020-2022. We continue to attract new members, both permanent and transient.
• Attendance over the past three years has averaged 63 of which almost eight are children, reflecting the stability and the diverse ages of the congregation’s families.
