Dear Church Family and Friends,
“God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:12-14
We are in a testing period and we have the strength and the means to endure it. God never promised us a perfect life, only that Jesus would be with us to the ends of the world.
Some of you have been asking how you can help with the challenge of being at home with social distancing. Well, here is a way you can help here in Key West and you never have to leave your home. FKOC, Florida Keys Outreach Coalition, one of our key mission partners here in Key West needs volunteers. All you need is a cell phone app and a computer. FKOC recently received a large amount of funding to assist those in need right here in our community.
There are two urgent volunteer roles needed that can be done entirely from home:
1. Speaking directly with applicants and helping them complete their assistance application over the phone.
2. Listening to voicemails and adding them to a call log for staff and other volunteers. Volunteers will need to be highly organized, able to navigate Google Drive (Sheets), download an app on your mobile phone and navigate a phone system (access voicemail, delete voicemails).
If you would like to learn more about helping with this program, contact Jen Hund at jhund@fkoc.org and they will set up a time to answer your questions.
This Sunday I will be preaching on the Omnipresence of God. So many people ask me the question, where is God during these challenging times? Well, we will find out where God is this coming Sunday via virtual worship.
I also wanted to let you know that our Secretary/Office Manager, Mary Cintron will officially be retiring around June 1. Mary came to the office at a crucial time in the life of Peace Covenant and has done an amazing job keeping the church moving forward. We have been blessed with Mary’s presence and work and we will celebrate her retirement just as soon as this crazy pandemic allows us to do so.
Our Session has already approved hiring a new Secretary/Office Manager named Kylie MacLaren. Kylie lives here in Key West and has served as a Air Traffic Controller for the U.S. Air Force. She has also worked in a variety of roles and is currently completing her Master’s Degree. Kylie is a Key West Co-op parent and the time frame works out perfect for her to be here in our office. Her husband works for the Department of Defense here in Key West. We are tentatively scheduled for Kylie to work with Mary beginning May 19 to June 1. We will keep you updated on any changes or delays due to the virus.
We had nearly 200 views on our Easter Sunday Service and I am hearing from people all over the country who are appreciative of hearing the Word of God during this time in their life. Thank you all for your constant encouraging emails, texts and support. We are blessed to be here with you!
Have a wonderful and safe weekend,
Pastor Daniel
