Pastor's Weekly Newsletter
Each Friday, Dr. Daniel Hagmaier posts his weekly newsletter. Catch up on what's happening and plan ahead.
Here is what the Pastor is reading, you might want to as well
Portable Faith, by Sarah Cunningham, on how to take what we believe into the communities in which we live, and vice versa, bringing our community into our places of worship.
Love Wins, by Rob Bell, a great way to understand the Christian faith anew, and practice it with grace and love for all.
Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller, a somewhat irreverent look at one’s own faith journey; witty, wise, and completely off the hook when it comes to discussing matters of faith and practice.
Religious Literacy, by Stephen Prothero, a book we just finished studying in our adult Sunday School Class, on what every well versed American should know about the world’s religions, and religion in the world.
Leaving Church, by Barbra Brown Taylor, also a book we have used in our adult Sunday School Class, a few years ago now, but still a wonderful look at what our faith in God can look like within and without the church.
Chasing the Wild Goose, by Mark Batterson. Need to get out of a rut in your faith; want to open yourself up more to the leading of God’s Holy Spirit; want workable ways to work on your faith life, this is the book for you.
Frederick Buechner – not a book but an author and any one of the dozens of books I own by him I would recommend to you. Just see me for some suggestions and further information.
A Testament of Hope, the collected writings and speeches of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A definitive presentation of his letters, speeches, writings, etc. still pertinent and important as they relate to race and culture in our day.
Sabbath Pause, by Terry Chapman – authored by the pastor of the church in New Jersey where our Sandy Relief Mission Team stayed, this collection of spiritual practices and writings provides for seven weeks of daily spiritual practices and reflections.
If you’ve been to my office you know these are but a few dozen of hundreds of books in my library. If you can make your way through the mess, you can borrow any book I have. Happy Reading! God bless!
