Scott Arthur Smoot of Big Pine Key, Fl passed November 14, 2014.
Scott was born on March 6, 1978 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He moved to Midland, Michigan as a 6th grader. Scott graduated from Midland High School, Home of the Chemics, in 1998. He continued his education and graduated with an Undergraduate Degree from Central Michigan University in 2001.
He was married to Allison Blake Freer on June 16, 2007.
The charismatic, funny, hard working and respected educator worked for Midland Public Schools and Monroe County School District as a classroom teacher for the last nine years. In the MPS School District Scott enjoyed coaching girls softball and basketball. In the Monroe County Schools he enjoyed coaching the Middle School Boys Basketball Team. He also sponsored the Sugarloaf Running Club and Student Council. Scott took on many leadership roles and took pride in these accomplishments.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Blake and his precious children, Anderson Wayne and Laurel Catherine. He is also survived by his parents Steve and Beverly from Midland MI, brother Kevin (Leiana) and nephews Matthew, Jacob and nieces McKenzie and Brielle from Henderson, NV. Along with Grandmother Eloise Smoot-Russell and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Scott is survived by families-in-law Marty and Tony Jacquette from Sugarloaf Key, FL, Ralph and Gaelle Freer from Poplar Bluff, MO, and brother-in-law Alexander Freer.
Scott loved to run, travel, antique, gather ancestry information and joke with his friends. Above all, he loved to spend time with his family.
Scott’s friendly smile remains in all of our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been established at First State Bank of the Florida Keys (PO Box 420248 Summerland Key, Fl 33042) for the Smoot Family.
Services will be held at Peace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Key West. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 18th from 4-7pm and the funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 19th at 2:00pm. A private family interment will follow.
