Maundy Thursday Service and Communion | 4-9-2020

Dear Church Family and Friends,

It is Maundy Thursday and tonight we pause to remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us and to celebrate Holy Communion together. You can use bread/cracker/fig newton and grape juice/wine. For us it is a symbol of the love Christ has for you and me.

Here is the service information:

Call to Worship
Jesus said, “I give you a new commandment that you should love one another just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.”
On this day, Christ gathered with his disciples in the Upper Room.
On this day, Christ took a towel and washed the disciples’ feet.
On this day, Christ broke bread for his disciples, telling them to eat.
On this day, Christ poured out wine, telling them to drink of the cup of new life.
On this day, Christ gave his whole self, that we too might follow and find abundant life.

Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, we offer you our lives, full as they are of shadow and light, of kindness and apathy, of hope and despair. Take what is broken and mend it; take what is wrong and right it; take what is destructive and disable it; take what is useless and make it useful. Heal our sin, we pray, Amen.

Declaration of Pardon
Friends, believe the Good News.
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

Old Testament Scripture
Psalm 116:1-2; 18-19

New Testament Scripture
John 13:18-30

Sermon:  Social Distancing But Not From Jesus!

Holy Communion

Were You There (3 verses)

Were you there when they crucified my Lord? Were you there when they crucified my Lord? O! Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble. Were you there when they crucified my Lord?

Were you there when they pierced him in the side? Were you there when they pierced him in the side? O! Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble. Were you there when they crucified my Lord?

Were you there when they laid him in the tomb? Were you there when they laid him in the tomb? O! Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble. Were you there when they laid him in the tomb.

We began videoing our pastor's and guest speakers' sermons on March 17, 2019. We will collect them all on their own page, adding one each week. We encourage you to check back frequently to watch as the collection grows.
