We hope you are safe and well on this first Friday morning in March.
This Sunday marks the beginning of the Lenten Season, a time of reflection of our faith and journey with Jesus Christ our Lord. This Sunday I will be preaching on the temptation of Jesus where he is led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by the devil for 40 days. Why did the Holy Spirit lead Jesus and does the Holy Spirit guide us to testing and temptation in our lives? Do we possess the power to overcome all temptations? What are you most tempted by and what are you willing to give up this Lenten Season to see if you too can overcome the power of temptation?
We will also celebrate Holy Communion as we remember the sacrifice our Lord Jesus made for us.
Last Sunday, church member Hannah Edwards, Community Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys shared that Habitat For Humanity is accepting homeowner applications now through March 31st, 2022 for the last 2 homes at Moss Landing in Cudjoe Key. Both units are 3-bedroom elevated townhomes. Applications are available for download on our website at www.habitatlowerkeys.org or they can also email you the application. An application flyer is attached.
Habitat for Humanity partner families purchase homes through no-profit, no-interest mortgages. In order to qualify to purchase a home, families must demonstrate a need for affordable housing, qualify for the loan, and be willing to partner with Habitat by completing home ownership courses and contributing 350 hours of sweat equity through work on their home or within the community.

Please keep in your prayers this morning the Gibson Family, Beth Childress, Beverly Morris and the people of Ukraine.
Have a safe and blessed weekend,
Pastor Daniel
