Dear Church Family and Friends,
We hope you are safe and well on this Friday morning leading into Holy Week.
This Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week with Jesus riding into Jerusalem bringing peace. The people began to shout “Hosanna, hosanna to the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” This Sunday, I want to focus on an event that took place as Jesus begins his journey to Palm Sunday. You would think that he would shut out the world around him and look to riding on a colt into Jerusalem and nothing else. But he encounters a tax collector named Zacchaeus who was a small man and had to climb a tree to see Jesus. Jesus notices him and invites Zach to invite Jesus to go to Zach’s house and Jesus changes this man’s life forever.
Our children will be bringing palms in during the first hymn and we will welcome Jesus into our hearts as we move into Holy Week. The Maunday Thursday Service will take place at 7 p.m. with Holy Communion. On Easter Sunday, we will hold a Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. in our courtyard followed by our Easter Worship Service at 11 a.m. Please take a moment to invite a friend or a stranger to come on Easter!
Our Special Offering is One Great Hour of Sharing. This offering goes to assist people around the country and the world who are going through various challenges whether it be a disaster or hunger or development. There are millions of people who lack access to sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education and opportunity. We will have a flyer and envelope in our bulletins this week. If you would like to give to the One Great Hour of Sharing, simply write a check to Peace Covenant Presbyterian Church and on the check and envelope, write One Great Hour of Sharing. Thank you!
Please keep in your prayers this morning, Beth Childress and the people of Ukraine and the Flight family.
Have a safe and blessed weekend,
Pastor Daniel
