“Carry each other’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

Dear Church Family and Friends,

The verse above reminds us to help one another through challenging times. One of the byproducts of this coronavirus for me has been connecting with many people from past churches or youth groups. A few days ago, a woman named Enih called me to reconnect. Enih wanted to tell me that her husband, Felix had passed away. Enih and Felix immigrated to the United States many years ago from Cameroon in West Africa and had three beautiful children. Enih sent me pictures of me baptizing two of them back in 2000. Enih is now on our email list.

I hope and pray that all of you are safe and well through this crazy time in our history. Since we are not having services and using the Fellowship Hall, our Buildings and Grounds Committee hired a company to grind and polish our floor.

This Sunday is Mother’s Day and Dr. Randy Becker will be preaching about mothers, especially about his own mother and how she influenced his life in a major way. We will send the mini-service out on Saturday afternoon.

As I think about carrying each other’s burdens and mother’s day, I think about my Grandmother Cornish. She was an amazing woman of great faith. She was also a champion diver in 1919 at Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh. When I left home to travel from Canadohta Lake, Pa to Hollywood, Florida, I was blessed to have Grandma Cornish in Hallandale. Nearly every day I drove to her trailer and she made me a wonderful lunch. I can remember eating BLT sandwiches as she loved to make them and then sit and eat while she watched Days Of Our Lives! I would then take her to the bank, grocery store and pharmacy. She was full of love and joy all the time and I loved spending time with her. She taught me how to swim and how to read! Thank you Grandma Cornish for being a beautiful woman and great example to me!

Please keep in your prayers this week Gerald Walters at home with Sue and daughter Ellen and receiving extra care. Also, pray for Barry Gibson and Beth Childress and Ed Cunningham who is in the hospital in Miami.

Thank you moms, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, nieces, and all women who are a mother to someone special! We salute you this Sunday and every day!

Happy Mother’s Day Weekend,

Pastor Daniel
