Dear Church Family and Friends,

We hope you are safe and well on this Friday morning here in June.

This Sunday, we have the rare privilege of welcoming two confirmation students, Anna McKenzie and Eden McKenzie who completed the confirmation process two years ago. Our Session approved them to become members two weeks ago and we will bring them forward this coming Sunday to officially welcome them to our membership.

This Sunday is Father’s Day, a day to remember our fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, and others who have served in a fatherly manner. I will be preaching on a very familiar text, The Prodigal Son who asks his father for his inheritance before his father passes. I thought about doing this years ago with my father, but I thought it was in my best interest not to do so! There are many good fathers who try their best to raise their children in a positive manner and we will remember the goodness of fathers this Sunday.

This Sunday is also Juneteenth when slavery officially ended and we will be giving thanks for the end of a terrible period in our history.

We will be meeting for Sunday School at 9:15 this Sunday in the Fellowship Hall. Please come and join us as we take time to remember the lessons of our fathers and grandfathers.

Please keep in your prayers this morning, Beth Childress, Marilyn Vanderveen, the Flight Family, and the people of Buffalo, Uvalde, Ukraine and others who are facing violence.
