Dear Church Family and Friends,
“My peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:32.
I love this verse because Jesus is telling us that the peace he gives is not the same peace we see in the world. Often, we think of peace as financial stability which is good or a healthy family which is wonderful or a beautiful house, nice car and a great job, all of which are positive things in one’s life. But, Jesus is talking about inner peace, the peace that you feel when you know deep in your heart that you are truly in the hands of God and nothing can separate you from his love and peace! Amen!
The Building and Grounds Committee continues its great work on the Fellowship Hall. Currently, the storage areas in the back area are now framed in and being finished. This is the absolute most perfect time to refurbish the Fellowship Hall with virtually no one using it at this time. Our AA Group has been meeting out in the courtyard practicing good social distancing. Thank you B & G Committee.
Our office hours over the next three weeks are as follows:
June 22-26 – 3:15 – 6:15 p.m.
June 29-July 2 – 9-12 p.m. (Office Closed on Friday, July 3 for Independence Day Holiday)
July 6-10 – 3:15-6:16 p.m.
Kylie’s husband, whose works for the Department of Defense has had to adjust his schedule through the summer. When school begins, we will be back to a weekly 9-12 p.m. schedule.
This Sunday is Father’s Day and I am proud to say that I was blessed with a wonderful father. He was not warm and fuzzy for most of his adult life but a great man of integrity, work ethic, volunteer work and loved life. When my mother passed in 1997, my father decided he needed to be warm and fuzzy for his children and now calls us all on a regular basis. I want to wish all our fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, uncles, brothers and any men who serve as a father figure to a child, thank you for all you do! Happy Father’s Day!
I will be preaching on the Prodigal Son from Luke and I will be giving you amazing insight about this parable from Jesus. The insight comes from Dr. Kenneth Bailey who served in the Middle East for over 40 years. I was fortunate to meet him at Westminster Missionary Conference where I was the youth speaker. He has so much insight into the culture and understanding of this parable. I look forward to sharing with you this great story.
Please keep in your prayers Gerald and Sue Walters, Barry Taylor and Beth Childress.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Pastor Daniel
