Dear Church Family and Friends,

I hope and pray you are safe and well on this Friday. Jaye J. and I returned from visiting doctors and families this past week and we had a great time getting away. Our granddaughter Lily turned one year old this past week and we celebrated her birthday. Jaye J. spent time with her 89-year-old father who is in great shape and enjoying life in Sun City Center, Florida just south of Tampa. We also did some much-needed shopping as this was our first time off the Rock since December!

We are still on track to begin in person services beginning on the last Sunday of November which is the first Sunday of Advent. Our Clerk of Session reminds all of us to check our statements to see if we are caught up with our pledges as we head to the end of the year. Thank you to all of you who support Peace Covenant.

This Sunday I will be preaching on a great interruption that occurred when Jesus was on his way to heal a 12-year-old child who was dying. As he makes his way to the home of Jairus, an unnamed woman touches the hem of his robe and he turns around to call her out. Does he embarrass her? Why did he need to know who touched him? Why is human touch so important in our lives? As you know, we have been void of human touch for the past 8 months. I will quote Helen Colton from her book, The Power of Touch in which she explains the value of hugging and touch in the way we heal both emotionally, physically and spiritually.

I am still on track to use a new email address from Gmail. I will let you know and give you a fair warning when I do so.

I hope this fall season is a time of peace, joy and hope as we pray a vaccine is found to protect the world from this dangerous virus. Please keep in your prayers this week, Barry Gibson and Beth Childress as they continue their treatments.

Blessings,

Pastor Daniel
