Good Friday morning everyone,

We had a wonderful service last Sunday including welcoming two new members to our church, Scott and Sonja Miller. They are transferring their membership from Little Rock, Arkansas to Peace Covenant. I am attaching a picture of them for you to see. Scott and Sonja have a home here in Key West and own their own engineering company.

We also had a congregational meeting after worship to elect three at large church members. Our Nominating Committee now consists of Niels Hubbell, Chair, Beverly Morris, Doug Brown, Ed Cunningham and Joe Ordini. They are now tasked with electing a Pastor Nominating Committee which they will bring to the next congregational meeting on March 22 after worship. We will provide more details in the next few weeks.

Ash Wednesday kicks off the beginning of Lent and we will hold an Ash Wednesday Service at noon at our church on Wednesday, February 26.

Our Key West Chili Cookoff takes place on Sunday, March 1 after worship. We need as many as possible to cook a pot of your best chili and bring it so that we can all enjoy the talents and chefs in our congregation. There is no cost and we will provide the drinks. Three judges will determine the top three chilis!

Confirmation Classes will take place on March 1 and 8 from 3-5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. I will be leading another class for students to learn more about God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, God’s Word and Presbyterianism!

Mary Ciesinski, the long time secretary for 20 years here at Peace Covenant passed into eternity on December 14, 2019. Her Memorial Service will be on Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m. I want to encourage as many people as possible to come and remember Mary who was an integral part of this church for so many years.

Don’t forget to send in your per capita amount per member for $36. Thank you! Also, February is Mission month and you have the great privilege of giving to our new Mission Outreach Fund (formerly the Len Millison Fund) to help families, children and others here in Key West and around the world!

This Sunday during Sunday School, we are back in Genesis and there is a huge famine in the land of Canaan and the Israelites must go down to Egypt to get some grain. What they don’t realize is that the siblings of Joseph who sold him into slavery will now have to go to Joseph to get food and here is the cool part. They won’t even recognize him and he decides to make them sweat a bit. It all begins at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

This Sunday, the Venture Out Choir will be back to sing for us and I will be preaching on a new sermon series entitled, What do Christians believe? I take this from the Nicene and Apostle’s Creed and we begin with God the Father Almighty at 11 a.m.

May God give you great peace this weekend,
Pastor Daniel
