Pastor’s weekly newsletter | 2-28-2020

Good morning everyone,

It is chilly here for Key West this morning as the temperature dipped into the upper 50’s overnight! We hope everyone is warmed by the thought of God’s love shining in our hearts and lives.

We hope you are ready for Sunday’s Annual Chili Cook Off! We encourage everyone to bring a pot of chili to share and/or a finger food dessert. The Member Care Committee is providing toppings, bread, cornbread, condiments, crackers, chips and beverages. Beginning with the Chili Cook Off we are doing our part to reduce single use plastics. You can help us and help the environment by bringing your own take home containers. Thank you! By the way, take a look at our partially refurbished Fellowship Hall. It is starting to look fantastic!

This Sunday during Sunday School, Reverend Amy Howe will return in my office (due to the chili cook off setup) to continue her series on justice. The study will come from the Book of Amos and these words: “Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever flowing stream.” The discussion will focus on questions such as: 1. What does it mean to establish justice? 2. What does it mean to have a just society? Is it even possible? 3. How would letting justice flow create such a society? Please join Amy at 10 a.m. in my office!

During worship I will be preaching on the second sermon in the series, What Do Christians Believe? This Sunday, we take a closer look at the phrase, Jesus Christ our Lord and focus on Jesus. Our Scripture lesson will come from Philippians 2:5-11. We will have special music and take communion.

Our first Confirmation Class will begin this Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and if you know of a student that would like to join us, please let me know. We will meet in my office.

Next Saturday, March 7, we will hold a Memorial Service for Mary Ciesinski at 2 p.m. in our sanctuary. Mary was our secretary for 20 years and a great blessing to our church. Part of her ashes will be scattered on our property as she dearly loved Peace Covenant. Come help us remember Mary in a special way!

Just a reminder that on Sunday, March 8 we turn our clocks ahead one hour.

Have a safe and blessed weekend,

Pastor Daniel
