Dear Church Family and Friends,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge God and God will direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5.
What a powerful verse for us to remember. We place our lives, our futures and everything we have into the hands of God who will lead us down the right path but only if we will acknowledge God and listen and follow.
This past week, the Interfaith Ministers Association met via Zoom to discuss the issues of racism in America. After a lengthy discussion, a subcommittee will meet to put out a Statement on Racism from the IMA, set a date to host a panel discussion on racism and plan future events in the next year. I will keep you aware of what is happening here in Key West in regards to racism.
Last Sunday, I hosted a Zoom meeting with our Peace Covenant children and we had a great time together. We talked about how they are doing and ways they can be positive during this time. I played a home scavenger game with them where they had to find a yellow belt for example and bring it to the computer as fast as possible. They also shared with me all their pets and their names. We are so blessed with so many wonderful children in our church.
Congratulations are in order for Matt and Sydney Hampton on the birth of their new beautiful baby, Ava Marbella, 8 lbs. 12 oz. Everyone is healthy.
If you would like to send a card, their address is: 1623 Venetian Drive, Key West, Florida 33040
This Sunday, my sermon will focus on the words of Paul in Philippians 3. He writes, “This one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind, I stretch forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” As we go through these huge challenges in our nation, we have to find ways to press on and keep our faith strong. We also have to hear the calling of God to us.
Please feel free to share any feedback regarding the reopening of our church. We are monitoring the cases of Covid-19. You may have noticed that yesterday was the highest number of cases in the state of Florida at 1698. We will continue to monitor these numbers until our next meeting on July 19.
Thank you again for your continued financial support through this time. Please keep Gerald Walters and Sue and daughter Ellen in your prayers as well as Barry Gibson and Beth Childress. Let us pray for our country and for healing and love and peace and needed change.
Blessings,
Pastor Daniel
