Dear Church Family and Friends,
Listen to these great words from Joshua,
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be discouraged, for God is with you wherever you go.”
I love this verse as the Israelites were about to face giants they had never seen before and it is quite natural to be afraid of giants. We have a giant virus running rampant in the world and it is scary but we are reminded that no matter where we go, God will be with us!
It is hard to believe but this Sunday is Palm Sunday, one of the most important dates on the church calendar for Palm Sunday signifies the point where Jesus enters Jerusalem in his final week on planet earth. I will be preaching on the passage where Jesus comes into the city and the people shout, “Hosanna, hosanna, in the highest, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”
I will also be leading you in celebrating the Lord’s Supper together. Our Session unanimously approved virtual communion two days ago and we will continue communion in this manner until we return to normal worship. It is okay to use grape juice or wine and bread or a cracker to celebrate the great sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. You can follow along with me as we share the feast God has prepared for you and me.
From the Clerk of Session: This is a friendly reminder to help the church keep up to date on all its bills by sending in your pledges via mail, PayPal online or by setting up automatic payments through your bank. Most churches in the country are suffering because of the inability to be together in worship and as a result, pledges and gifts tend to drop off considerably. Thank you so much for your generosity to Peace Covenant.
Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week and I want to encourage you to walk with Jesus down the road to the cross. I will also hold a Maundy Thursday Service and videotape it for you to continue to remember the betrayal of Christ as he faced his destiny. We will also celebrate Holy Communion then as well.
I pray that God will continue to strengthen you, keep you safe and healthy and bless you as we mark this very special time in the life of Peace Covenant leading us to the great Resurrection!
May the Lord be with you,
Pastor Daniel
