Pastor’s weekly newsletter | Aug. 16, 2019
Good morning everyone,
The author of Deuteronomy gives us these wonderful words of comfort: “The Lord your God goes before you and will be with you; God will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Life often throws some pretty wild curve balls our way but God promises to walk this journey with us, each step of the way through the good times and the challenging times, God will be by our side! Please continue to keep in your prayers a couple of members of our church and some of their family members. Also keep in your prayers our former Interim Pastor, Mary Wright who is in the hospital.
A big thank you to all of you who contributed to our Backpacks for Kids program at Gerald Adams to benefit families who struggle with the resources to provide necessary items for children to be educated. We were able to raise nearly $2000 to help with this program!
By the way, we have received enormous feedback from the Key West community on our latest sign out front which reads: “Broken crayons still color.” This ties right back into the words from Deuteronomy! God can use us despite our past mistakes or failures.
Please note that our worship service will switch to 11 a.m. beginning September 1. Communion has been moved by our Session to September 8.
In case you missed last Sunday’s sermon on Why We Should Get Right With God, it is available below. There is a wonderful story at the end of my sermon on a French Restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio called EDWINS. It’s a program on helping prisoners transition from prison life to become skilled chefs. The restaurant gets 5 stars on Yelp which is pretty amazing!
