Good morning everyone,
As you all know, there is a major hurricane named Dorian swirling out in the Atlantic. I encourage everyone to be vigilant, watchful and in prayer for all Florida residents. I will be reaching out to Tropical Florida Presbytery as the days progress to find ways to be of assistance to our sister churches.
We have some other important news to share with you. Our longtime Choir Director, Joe Lowe, citing health concerns has made the decision to retire after 50 on/off years at Peace Covenant. Joe has been a huge blessing to Peace Covenant and St. Paul’s Episcopal for 40 years. His ministry here in Key West has been incredibly valuable to all the people who were fortunate to hear his music. Joe’s final Sunday will be September 29. More details to follow in regards to a celebration for Joe on that Sunday. On behalf of our church, I want to invite you to send in cards and a monetary love gift of appreciation. You can make the check out to Peace Covenant and we will give him one check.
This Sunday our service time returns to 11 a.m. Communion has been moved to September 8 as the Reverend Michael Zehr will be preaching this Sunday as I am on a pre-approved Study Leave. Michael will be preaching from Numbers 13:25-33 and his sermon title is: Where Are The Giants?
Please keep in your prayers a church member and daughter of a church member and Reverend Mary Wright, our former Interim Pastor who is in the hospital.
