Good morning everyone,
We are just 12 days away from Christmas! This Sunday is a very special day for our church. Our children will be presenting the annual Christmas Pageant and we will see shepherds and angels and Mary and Joseph and Jesus. What an exciting day for our church! Marika and Nicolas Smith will be lighting the third advent candle and the Venture Out Choir will be singing.
This Sunday we will continue our Sunday School lessons in Genesis as we look at a name adjustment as God tells Abram that he is now Abraham. We will discover the reason for this change and the renewed covenant God makes with Abraham and Sarah who also gets a brand new name. Don’t forget to bring your purchased gifts for FKOC for children and families to Mary Cintron this Sunday.
If you would like to give money to our annual Joy Offering, there are envelopes available in the pews. The Joy Offering honor’s God’s gift of Jesus Christ by providing assistance to current and retired church workers in their time of need and developing our future leaders at Presbyterian-related schools and colleges equipping communities of color.
Mary wanted me to let you know that our finances now stand at a deficit of $7300 for the year. This is good news as we started the year at a deficit of nearly $40,000. She also wanted me to remind you that if you wish your gift to the church to count for 2019, it must be in her hands by December 31. Thank you again for your gifts for the kingdom of God and your pledges for 2020.
Our Christmas Eve service with Lessons and Carols is coming together in a beautiful way and we encourage you to invite neighbors and friends to our Candlelight Service at 7 p.m.
