Pastor’s weekly newsletter | Jan. 10, 2020

Good morning everyone,

I want to invite you to Sunday School at 10 a.m. this Sunday to hear Reverend Amy Howe discuss Part 2 of her lessons on Capital Punishment. This Sunday, Amy will be showing a 10 minute film entitled, “To Honor Life” a brief look at the death penalty through the eyes of people affected by this system. It will feature several speakers including a man who was wrongfully convicted and spent 20 years on death row. How should Christians respond when considering the issue of putting people to death?

I will be starting a brand new sermon series on the Life of Daniel and it will be an adventure from a Palace Plot to a Lions Den to a Fiery Furnace. Daniel takes a stand for what he believes is right. Do you have the courage to stand up for what you believe even though you may be the only one? Come join us at 11 a.m.

We will have a Congregational Meeting at the end of the service before the last hymn to elect two new Elders.

Super Bowl Sunday is February 2 and we will celebrate with our tailgate party and we invite everyone to wear their favorite jerseys! Our Member Care Committee invites you to bring small sides and/or finger food desserts (no cakes). Burgers and hot dogs will be served and remember to bring a dry goods donation to help feed those in need. We also need more items in our Food Pantry located in the Narthex, canned and dry goods are acceptable. Thank you!

Please mark Sunday, February 9 on your calendars for our Scottish Celebration. We have two bagpipers coming in to join us for a fabulous celebration of our Presbyterian history. I will be in a kilt and full Scottish garb from head to toe and we invite you to wear your tartan or any plaid clothing. The pipers will also be playing 15 minutes in our courtyard before the service.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Pastor Daniel
