Pastor’s weekly newsletter | Jan. 24, 2020

Good morning everyone,

This past week the temperature dropped to 52 one morning as a major cold front swept across the country. Of course, for those living up north it is much colder. I hope you can feel the warmth of God on this Friday!

This Sunday we will continue our study in Genesis on Jacob and Esau with Jacob stealing the birthright of his brother. How can one be blessed by stealing a birthright? What is the history regarding birthrights in ancient lands? Come join us at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

During worship, we will look at Daniel chapter 3 where Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refuse to bow down before the gold statue of Nebuchadnezzar. They will be thrown into a fiery furnace. How will they respond? How do you respond when you are thrown into the furnace of adversity? The Venture Choir will be back this Sunday. Last week we had 20 in the choir!

Next Sunday, February 2, we will host our Annual Super Bowl Party after worship. We will be furnishing burgers and hot dogs and we invite you to bring side dishes and finger food desserts. Also, bring a dry goods donation to help feed the needy and plan on wearing your favorite team hat, jersey, tie or pants.

The following Sunday, February 9 will be our Presbyterian Scottish Sunday Celebration with bagpipers and a minister in a kilt! Who else gets to wear kilts but Presbyterians. Plan on inviting everyone as it will be a wonderful time together. Our denomination was founded by John Knox in Scotland.

For our church members, this year’s Per Capita is $36 per person. Per Capita is an amount of money that is split between our Presbytery and Office, Synod and Office and our national headquarters in Louisville. Please make your check out to Peace Covenant. Thank you!

Have a safe and blessed weekend,

Pastor Daniel
