Pastor’s weekly newsletter | July 12, 2019
Good morning everyone,
I hope you are having a wonderful week as we make our way to the halfway point of the summer season.
I want to thank you for your continued financial support of our church especially during the summer. I am attaching a Financial Health Report which brings us up to date as of July 8 thanks to Mary Cintron. We have received more income and kept our expenses down and that normally adds up to a positive report!
This Sunday is a very important day for our church and Trinity Presbyterian here in Key West. We will be exchanging pulpits. I will preach at Trinity while Reverend Denise McLeod will preach at our church. We want to continue to build on the great work that Pastor Larry and Karen Schenk did with their wonderful efforts in leading VBS at Trinity for several years.
We want to show Key West and the world that we support one another and the exchanging of pulpits is another way to do so. Trinity Presbyterian’s motto is this: “The Church in the Heart of the City with the City at Heart, and the Friendliest Church this side of Heaven.”
Trinity has a rich and captivating history. It was in 1892 on this island that the London Methodist Missionary Society commissioned a group of Bahamian immigrants to organize Trinity. After years of struggling to find ministers, the church was transferred to the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 1931.
While small in numbers, Trinity is a diverse, multi-cultural, vibrant body of believers and full of joy, life and the glory of Jesus Christ our Lord. I preached there on Ash Wednesday and look forward to a fantastic day together with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Please come to Peace Covenant this Sunday to support Reverend Denise McLeod at 10 a.m.!
