Pastor’s weekly newsletter | Nov. 29, 2019

Good morning everyone,
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and shared the many blessings that God has given to you.
This Sunday we will be serving communion together as we remember what our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ has done for us by forgiving us and bringing new life to our future.
Our Stewardship Team reminds everyone to bring their 2020 Pledge Card to worship and after partaking of Holy Communion, you can drop your Pledge Card in a basket as you head back to your seat.
This Sunday begins the Advent Season and the Gibson Family will be lighting the first Advent Candle. I will be preaching on Luke 3 and Isaiah 40 where both John and Isaiah preach a message to make the road smooth for the coming Messiah. John tells everyone to repent. The word repent is a fascinating and often misunderstood word. I will share with you the precise meaning of John’s message to us. I will first preach at Venture Out at 9 a.m. Doug Brown will be leading the Sunday School Class at 10 a.m. on Genesis 15, a very powerful passage on the faith of Abram. After worship, we will also be serving a Super Punch with small bites!
On Sunday, December 8, we will have our Annual Christmas Fingers Potluck after worship in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is invited to bring either sweet or savory finger foods to share with each other. Sandwiches, chicken nuggets, cookies and wings are examples of foods that do not require a fork. No casseroles, salads, etc.
On Tuesday, December 10 we will meet at the church at 6:30 p.m. to leave at 7 for the Annual Christmas Conch Train Light Tour. Bob Lutz will be driving us and a reminder that the cost is free but please bring some money to tip our wonderful driver!
Don’t forget to order your Christ poinsettias in memory or in honor of someone special. The cost is $6.00 per poinsettia. Contact the church office.
Have a blessed weekend,
Pastor Daniel
