Pastor’s weekly newsletter | Oct. 4, 2019

Good morning everyone,

Hagmaier grandchildJaye J. and I just returned from a vacation to Sarasota to visit with family members as well as some yearly doctor visits. We have exciting news to share. My daughter, Shawna gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Lily, weighing in at 5 lb. 13 oz. and 19″ long! I am attaching a picture of course for you to see the incredible resemblance! My son, Shane called me on Monday after our visit to tell us that he has been offered a position with Intel outside of Portland, Oregon. We were blessed to have dinner with them and pray for new beginnings in their lives.

This Sunday is World Communion Sunday and I will be preaching on Making Roses Out Of Thorns. The Apostle Paul was inflicted with a thorn in his side and asked God to remove it three times. God did not remove his thorn and instead said to Paul, :”My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness.” We will unpack these words and share ways to make beautiful roses out of the painful circumstances of life.

Sunday School begins this Sunday at 10 a.m. in my office for the first two weeks. We will explore the book of Genesis and see the implications for us today. We begin right in the beginning, creation! Please join us for a lively discussion this coming Sunday and every Sunday at 10 a.m.

This Sunday we will also be hosting a baby shower for Heather Smothers in the Fellowship Hall from 3-5 p.m. What a blessing to be able to share in the gift of new life happening in our church.

On Tuesday, October 8 at noon, I will be hosting the monthly Interfaith Ministers Association meeting at our church. It is wonderful to connect with all the ministers here in Key West as we work together on ways to benefit the people suffering in the Bahamas.

I want to invite you to a luncheon celebration of the music ministry of Joe Lowe on Sunday, October 13 after worship in the Fellowship Hall. This is a time to thank Joe for all he has done for our Lord and for Peace Covenant and Key West with his gifts in music. Please plan on joining us!

With Joe’s retirement we are in need of one or two people taking over Joe’s flower duties. All you need to do is be available to have a beautiful arrangement ready when needed. No need to worry about doing it yourself, we will help you procure the flower arrangement with no stress! Let Mary Cintron or myself know if you feel called to this blessed ministry.

I want to apologize for our videos the past two weeks. It appears that the disk did not function properly with Dr. Randy Becker’s sermons. I will double check everything this week and hopefully get right back on track with our weekly video sermons.

Have a wonderful fall weekend!
