Good Friday morning everyone,
The weather has shifted here to a much cooler level at 86 with a nice breeze coming in from the east. It feels wonderful! By the way, I will be on vacation with Jaye J. visiting family in Sarasota over the next two weeks and my next communication via email will be October 4. Reverend Dr. Randy Becker will be preaching over the next two weeks.
This past Sunday, our Session made a number of important decisions regarding the life and ministry of our church. I will be sharing some of them in October and November as they unfold. However, one of the decisions made by the Property Committee and approved by the Session involves a plan to begin the process of upgrading and refurbishing our Fellowship Hall. It has been loved so much by our members and guests over the years that it now needs new love! We will keep you in the loop as we proceed. The Session approved funds to come from the Carol Hankamp Memorial Fund. Carol had a desire to see the Fellowship Hall and property improved and we will honor her request! Thank you Carol!
We are continuing to raise funds for Bahama Relief. Our Mission Committee voted to send 50% to the PDA Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Fund and hold back 50% for a future mission trip to the Bahamas. Here is the latest news from PDA:
Everyone is invited to a baby shower for Richard and Heather Smothers on Sunday, October 6 at 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Cake and punch will be served. If you would like to purchase a gift, they are registered at Amazon Baby Registry under Heather Smothers (there are 2). Please RSVP to this correct email address: email@example.com
A reminder that Joe Lowe’s last Sunday will be September 29. We will celebrate Joe’s ministry at Peace Covenant with a special luncheon on Sunday, October 13 after worship. Please plan to join us. If you would like to send a card and love gift you can make the check to Joe Lowe or to Peace Covenant and we will add it to the total amount collected!
Our new hymnals will be dedicated on Sunday, October 27! One of our sister churches, New Covenant Presbyterian in our presbytery will be receiving 60 of our old hymnals for them to use in their worship.
